This is a very simple tool but can be very beneficial. The Spot Healing tool is the default healing tool in Photoshop. It can be used to clone areas from an image and blend the pixels from the sampled area seamlessly. Basically, you can use this tool to remove unwanted areas from your image.
This is the image I will be editing. Using the spot healing tool I will be removing the birds in this image to demonstrate how easy the spot healing tool is to use. TIP: When first using this tool I would suggest using an easy image as practice. The spot healing tool can be tricky depending on the image. Using a simple image such as this one will be beneficial for your development with Photoshop.

Using the spot healing tool I will be removing all the birds to transform this image into a sky photograph.
Like always, open your image in Photoshop. Unlock the background and duplicate the background. By doing this, it allows you to undo any mistakes and increases editing flexibility.

By duplicating the layer you can remove any mistakes you make.
On your duplicated layer click the spot healing in the tool on the left-hand side in the tools bar. The icon is displayed below:
From here, zone in on your image to the area you wish to remove. Adjust your brush size and simply mark the area you wish to remove. As shown below:

Using the tool, I wished to remove this bird. I used the brush to mark over the area.
After you have marked over the area simply release your cursor and the area will disappear.

From this point, it is up to you how much of the image you would like to remove. For this example, I will be removing all the birds to demonstrate how easy the tool is to use.

This tool, can not only be used for simple edits such as this. This tool can be used to remove any unwanted area with your photo. I personally use this tool for portrait photography. I like to use this to remove any skin perfections on my subject. This tool can also be used for landscape photography to remove any unwanted scenery.
